New! Adjustable mounting bracket (05^th January 2012)

From January 2012, all ThermaSkirt Urban, Torus and Ogee profiles will use the new mounting bracket.

The new bracket is designed to allow up to 14mm of vertical movement, making installation even easier.

In addition it is being moulded in a slippery PTFE type material to ensure silent operation even on hollow plasterboard or badly uneven walls.

In addition the bracket features a handy 7mm half hole for immediate alignment of the drill bit when drilling the wall, and on the opposite side, a marking ‘Vee’ for those who prefer to leave a pencil mark prior to drilling.

ThermaSkirt now fitted in the NHS (07^th June 2011)

ThermaSkirt has recently been fitted in Trafford General NHS, Paediatric Ward, to help in the battle against the spread of infections such as the killer C.Difficile. Traffford General in Greater Manchester originally known as Park Hospital, was the first NHS hospital opened in 1948, and is held in the highest esteem with many pioneering projects and breakthroughs still emanating from there.

Due to the efforts of the Microbiology department, the hospital has been outbreak free for nearly 4 years, a record they were keen to continue. One of the main areas of concerns was the heating system, with conventional radiators being practically impossible to keep clean, and being a breeding ground for the deadly spores that spread the infection through the air.

"We selected Discrete Heat's system of heated alloy skirtings for clinic rooms when developing the new children's unit at Trafford General Hospital because we thought it would reduce infection risk. We are proud of our record on preventing healthcare-associated infections here in Trafford and are always looking for new products that can further cement it by reducing risk. As NOT seen on RTE's 'Room to Improve' (27^th May 2010) 

If you watched Irish Televisions 'Room to Improve' program on Wednesday 26th May, you might have heard presenter Dermot Bannon being less than complimentary about the skirting heating system installed in Brian & Julie Keanes project.

Fortunately, the skirting system installed was NOT ThermaSkirt, manufactured by DiscreteHeat Co Ltd, but another product manufactured by an Irish owned company.

Mr & Mrs Keane had specified skirting heating, believing they would be getting ThermaSkirt. Discovering too late that the system provided did not incorporate the unique twin pipe oval system, patented by DiscreteHeat meant that their installation did not provide the aesthetics or performance they were expecting.

Moral of the story? Not all skirting heaters are heated skirting board! There is only one ThermaSkirt, so insist on it by name. More than 7,500 systems now successfully installed.
